The V&A Waterfront has joined hands with the Maserati Cape Town Race Week and the Cape2Rio as co-host of the events.

Space on Jetty 2 will be laid on for the race village from 15 December to 1 January. Several other events, including some much-anticipated shore parties, will be staged at the V&A Waterfront as part of the Race Week and leading up to the Cape2Rio’s final departure day on 1 January.

David Green, the V&A Waterfront CEO, said: “As the gateway between the City of Cape Town and the ocean, the V&A Waterfront fully supports and endorses events such as the Maserati Cape Town Race Week and Cape2Rio. Not only does this event highlight our proud marine history, it also assists with driving our oceans economy and marketing Cape Town to the rest of the world.”

Race Week director Simon Borchert said: “During December more than 100,000 people visit the V&A Waterfront each day and it is a fantastic environment for the race village.”

He added that international yachts entered for the Cape2Rio would be moored in front of Quay 6.

Entry to the race village is free to the public and it will be open from 15 December to 1 January. Visitors will be able to spend time at the Corsa Classica – Maserati’s exhibition of some of the rarest vehicles – and pop-up stores and view the racing yachts from around the world.

“We are proud to be associated with the V&A Waterfront. It is a natural fit given its history with all major global sailing events off our shores,” Borchert added.
