SABC3 New Shows in July


ABC3 brings you new and exciting content just to make your July and school holidays a bit more enjoyable. From the 26 June 2017 right through to July 2017 we promise to serve you fresh local  and foreign content that will keep you glued to your screens.  See the list of expected entertainment below

The Final Cut:  (26 June 2017 Monday at 19:30 – 20:30)

The SABC is looking for two new faces to fill the shoes of two new characters to brace the screens in one of SABC’s prominent dramas. This competitive driven reality show is on the search for new raw talent with one ultimate goal: they have the need to act on SABC. The Final Cut is hosted by Lawrence Maleka and the judges include Karin Van Der Laag, Mmabatho Montsho and Thabang Moleya


Guge: The Lost Kingdom of Tibet: (04 July 2017 Tuesday at 15:00 – 16:00)

This journey throughout the remote stretches of western Tibet offers a rare glimpse at the ancient ruins of Guge. Once a flourishing kingdom controlling much of the trade between China and India, the population of Guge mysteriously vanished in the year 1630. American archaeologist John Bellezza joins Tibetan historian Tsering Gyalpo in hopes of discovering the true fate of this mysterious land.

#WTFTUMI: (5 July 2017 Wednesday at 21:30 – 22:30)

WTF Tumi is a tongue-in-cheek, witty and fun late night talk show hosted by comedienne and actress Tumi Morake.  The one hour show features celebrity interviews, exciting interactive games between guests and studio audience. The format of the show is designed to wrap up the South African day with a consolidation of what the nation is currently talking about while getting to know its amazing stars at the same time.


It’s OK, We’re Family: (07 July 2017 Friday at 19:30 – 20:00)

It’s OK, We’re Family is a new comedy / entertainment show. The series stars David Kau as David Kau who’s making the biggest movie South Africa has ever seen. However, he lives with his dysfunctional father Basil Kauwitz, played by Mark Banks and his “would be” digital entrepreneurial sister Leshae K (Natasha Thahane).

24 Hours To Go Broke: (08 July 2017 Saturday at 16:00 – 17:00)

In each episode, a pair of celebrities must spend up to £10,000 in 24 hours, in some of the world’s most random places. They must follow strict rules and have nothing left to show for the money but a set of extraordinary experiences.

The MIC: (08 July 2017 Saturday at 18:30 – 19:00)



The MIC is an on stage show with various talented Mzansi musicians giving an exclusive live performance like no other. The series is a stage to unleash rare South African talent that is ready and ripe to take on big stages.

Mapungubwe: Echoes in the Valley: (09 July 2017 Sunday at 21:30 – 22:30)

Mapungubwe: Echoes in the valley is a documentary that tells of how the Kingdom of Mapungubwe came to be, rose to prominence, and formed a major part in a network of communities and realms exchanging goods, art, ideas and culture.


Umbilical Cords: (11 July 2017 Tuesday at 15:00 – 16:00)

Umbilical Cords is a ‘no-holds barred’ documentary exploring love and conflict between mothers and daughters. Three young women live together in Cape Town, South Africa, with mothers from Argentina, Lesotho and Indonesia. Living thousands of miles apart, the women stay in touch over the phone. Yet beneath the daily phone calls, lie years of conflict over religion, race, and belonging. Stepping into womanhood, a battle over identity threatens this ultimate bond. Each mother/daughter pair becomes locked in a dance around how much each woman is willing to see the other as a separate, and vulnerable, human being. Umbilical Cords offers an intimate, unflinching exploration of what often remains unsaid between mothers and daughters, until they are forced to confront the woman at the other end of the phone.

The Intern by David Tlale: (12 July 2017 Wednesday at 19:30 – 20:30)

This 13-episode reality TV show shot in the heart of Johannesburg will follow 12 contestants on their journey to becoming David Tlale’s next Assistant Designer.

China Diaries: (12 July 2017 Wednesday at 20:30 – 21:00)




China Diaries is a 13 part, 24-minute reality travel show featuring the dynamic, yet conflicting personalities of loud diva, Leera Mthethwa and divine lady, Khabo Shabangu.

The Scoop: (12 July 2017 Wednesday at 21:00 – 21:30)

The Scoop is a news and gossip show about the film, fashion, music and entertainment industry, breaking stories both at home and from around the world. The show features Khanyi Mbau as the presenter introducing inserts and stories and engaging the audience on the topics of these stories and giving them The Scoop on local celebrities.  The show also contains attendance of international red carpet or fashion events like the Oscars, at which she gets to talk to the stars and ask questions from a South African perspective.

Beautiful Planet Specials: (18 July 2017 Tuesday at 15:00 – 16:00)

From Louis XIV’s dazzling palace at Versailles to the iconic Machu Picchu in the Andes; the extraordinary architectural masterpiece of Venice and the moonscapes of Turkey’s Cappadocia, the Beautiful Planet Specials take an in-depth look at the most magical places in the world.



Bridal Boot Camp: (28 July 2017 Friday at 15:00 – 16:00)

What would you do for the wedding dress of your dreams? Cynthia Conde, the founder and bestselling author of ‘Bridal Bootcamp’ challenges 10 fiances to undergo some extreme challenges. The 10 women will be separated into two “Bridal Parties” where they will compete in special challenges to get in shape and fit the wedding dress of their dreams. Each week, the teams will go against each other. The winning team will gain immunity while the losing team will head off to the “fitting room” where one bride to be will be sent home.

Counter Culture: (30 July 2017 Sunday at 21:30 – 22:30)

Each week this edgy documentary show investigates one of mainstream society’s A to Z list of counter-cultures. The simple idea is to shift the audience’s incredulousness, to one of understanding and broadmindedness: a live and let live attitude based on empathy and insight. In doing so, the show aims to change viewers’ pre-conceptions too.

Bedford Wives: (24 August 2017 Thursday at 19:30 – 20:30)

Nothing is at it seems in this comedy-drama… Bedford Wives follows the lives of four Bedfordview women and a community of Bedfordview criminals who; on the surface, exude pristine and perfect lives, but behind closed doors, are revealed to have skeletons and secrets…






Man Cave 6:  (4 July 2017 Tuesday at 21:00 – 21:30)

Each episode takes you on an epic adventure with the presenters. The show will cover aspirational stories on local heroes, naughty profiles with beautiful girls, bucket list adventure challenges, mind blowing cutting edge technology and of course everything from Classic to Hyper Cars.

Blue Collar Millionaires 2: (10 July 2017 Monday at 20:30 – 21:00)

Survivor 30: Worlds Apart (18 July 2017 Tuesdays at 19:30 – 20:30)

After 15 years and 30 seasons, the newest edition will feature the first-time theme of “Worlds Apart,” with castaways from very different backgrounds divided into the three separate tribes. The all-new castaways will be grouped by White Collar, Blue Collar and No Collar.
