OFM Music Awards returns for a third year


The OFM Music Awards is back for the third year and listeners stand a chance to win cash and prizes for voting for their favourite artists online. The OFM Music Awards aims to acknowledge the contribution that local and international musicians make to the entertainment sector in South Africa.

As in the past, listeners will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for their favourites in 10 categories. Winners in each category will receive a Golden Note Award during a special award ceremony that will be broadcast live on Thursday, 21 September from 14:00 to 15:00.

The nominees will be announced on Monday, 4 September and voting will take place from Monday, 4 September to Thursday, 14 September.

OFM general manager, Nick Efstathiou, says, “The OFM Music Awards is now in its third year and bigger than ever. OFM is immensely proud of this initiative that seeks to acknowledge the creative effort, and hard graft, of local and international artists to entertain and enthrall their global audience. Without our artists and their music, our lives would certainly be a lot less exciting and colourful.”

The ten categories (five local and five international) in which listeners can vote for their favourites include Song of the YearBest AlbumBest Female ArtistBest Male Artist, and Best Group.

Previous winners include Karlien van Jaarsveld for Woorde (South Africa Song of the Year 2016), Riana Nel (Best Female Artist South Africa 2016), Bobby van Jaarsveld (Best Male Artist South Africa 2016), The Parlotones (Best South African Group 2016), Adele (Best International Female Artist2016), Allan Walker (Best International Male Artist 2016), and One Direction (Best International Group 2016).

Listeners can vote either online on the OFM website or by using the OFM app.
