Man found carrying human head arrested in Durban CBD


Durban Central Police have arrested a man allegedly found in possession of a human head in the CBD. 

Spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says crime prevention officers came across the man this morning while they were on duty.

Zwane says police searched him because he looked suspicious.

It is alleged that the man tried to flee over a wall into the nearby railway lines when police arrived, but he was apprehended by the parking lot security guard who thought he was attempting to steal a car.

A  black backpack was found with the head concealed inside two plastic packets. The sangoma, dressed in Zulu traditional gear, he was questioned but not arrested. It is alleged that the man had cut off the head in the early hours of this morning. It is unclear what price the man had asked for the head.

Several hours later‚ police found a headless body in Mayville and are now investigating the potential connection between the cases.

“The body of a man with no head was found at Mayville area now. It is suspected that the head is the same one that was found this morning at Durban CDB area‚” Zwane said.

“A murder case will be opened at Cato Manor police station. One suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of the head.”
