Biography: Joocy | Mzansitunes focus on Durban artists


Musa Mavundla fondly know as Joocy from Kwa Makhutha a township south of Durban started his singing career at Mbongeni Ngema Committed Artists. He used to act on stage plays such as Sarafina and Stimela SaseZola. From there together with his other collegues at the Committed Artists met with DJ Tira and they formed a group called Afro Soul. Afro Soul released one album under Afrotainment which did fairly good enough winning a Metro FM award and getting a nomination for the South African Music Awards.

After Afro Soul left Afrotainment Joocy remained behind and continue working with DJ Tira. Together they composed no.1 hits such as “I won’t let u go” and “Ngisemathandweni”. Joocy brought soul to Afrotainment music. He was featured on most Afrotainment albums like Big Nuz, DJ Cndo, DJ Fisherman and DJ Tira Ezase Afro Vol 1 compilation.
2011 Joocy finally released his album named Defination of Soul. The 15 tracks album has dance songs, afro pop and love jams. On this album Joocy worked with DJ Tira, Mampintsha from Big Nuz, Mondli Ngcobo of Bongi Dube fame, Tshedi Moholo (Malaika), K.O from Teargas, Lulu Dikana, Malehloka, Robbie Malinga and Demor from Shana. Joocy is taking South African music to another level. Make sure you get his album and if his launch tour hits your town make sure you don’t miss it.
