Jacaranda FM’s Rian van Heerden leaves the station

After five and a half years, Jacaranda FM’s Rian van Heerden, host of The Complimentary Breakfast, is departing the stage. Veteran broadcaster Martin Bester and comedian Tumi Morake will take over the station’s morning slot from the beginning of July.

Friday, 30 June, marked the final broadcast of Jacaranda FM’s popular The Complimentary Breakfast, which has been a mainstay on Jacaranda’s morning slot for over half a decade.

This is the second time host Van Heerden, who worked with team Dianne Broodryk, Marcelle Gordon, and Thabiso Khambule, has said goodbye. His first attempt to depart at the end of March was postponed after the show’s listener’s persuaded Van Heerden to stay on, with Van Heerden later stating he will do so for three more months.

On Wednesday, 21 June, the station announced that Bester and Morake would be taking over the breakfast slot, with their first show set to be on Monday, 3 July.
