Cape Town’s top artists to perform at CT festive lights switch-on event


The City of Cape Town has unveiled the performance line-up for the annual Cape Town festive lights switch-on open-air event. The switch-on event will be held at the Grand Parade and surrounding streets in the CBD on 3 December 2017.

The performers set to take the stage include:

  • Baby Boy
  • Paxton (Idols finalist)
  • Soul Kulture
  • Heavenly Quartez
  • Koos Kombuis
  • Vicky Sampson
  • Craig Lucas (winner of The Voice South Africa)
  • Jimmy Nevis
  • Freshlyground
  • The Rockets and Friends (celebrating 50 years)
  • DJ Reddy D
  • MC: Joe Barber and Boeta Gamat

The concert will end with a spectacular 3D video mapping display. The first crossing in Adderley Street will also carry a brand new light attraction in line with the 2017 theme: Cape Town celebrates summer.

The winners of the second Festive Lights Challenge music video competition will round-up the line-up. The winner will be selected by Capetonians through an online public voting system on The winning up-and-coming artist or band will perform at the festival and also receive a R10, 000 cash prize.

Entrants need upload a performance video via the mobile app and share it on their social channels. The more votes the entrant gets, the higher their standing on the ‘buzz meter’. The Festive Lights Challenge is on until 28 November 2017.
