About Nandos “petty” anti competition advert against Popeyes

So, let us talk about Nandos. For the fact that their prices are also “hase mo kasi mo” to us poor chicken lovers, we have decided to address this once and for all.

Someone once asked if Nandos Chicken attend private school or are delivered in Mercedes Benz AMGs, but today we are not there, we want to address their double standards.

For a company that operates about 1,000 outlets in 30 countries, Nandos should not have made such a “messy’ and “petty” advert to starters. Yes it was spicy, it made them trend, but then are they going to make their meals affordable to ordinary kasi people?

We laughed, we retweeted, but here are some facts Nandos forgot:

  • Nandos has over 280 branches in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • Nando’s has operated since 1994 in Canada, with branches in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
  • Nando’s opened its first United States location in 2008 in Washington, D.C. Nando’s currently has over 30 restaurants in the US: seven in the Chicago area, four in Washington, D.C.; thirteen in Maryland; and six in Virginia.
  • As of 2013 there were over 270 Nandos restaurants in Australia
  • As of February 2013 there are 31 Nando’s outlets in New Zealand.

On top of this list, Nandos has a presence in Qatar, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Pakistan, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, Namibia and Botswana.

All these places are not Sandton dear Nandos. You have been well received throughout the world and here you are acting like a spoilt self-entitled brat. We had our own girl being kicked out of a AirBnB house in Europe just weeks ago, being told to “Go Back to Africa” ……….were you not upset? Yeah, we love you Nandos, we do.
